The Abendmusik Vesper Choir is an ensemble of 20 singers from the Lower Mainland. The choir gives evening services at Thanksgiving, Advent and Lent where we provide an opportunity to worship and meditate with sacred music and prayers written across the centuries. Please feel free to bring friends who might appreciate this type of music and this opportunity for reflection -- no applause, no sermon, no announcements.

If you would like to contact the Abendmusik Vesper Choir for more information, or you would like to be on our mailing list, please send e-mail to

Look forward to joining us for our 21st season
(fall 2011 & spring 2012)

The Abendmusik Vesper Choir is conducted this season by Timothy Corlis, a doctoral candidate in Music Composition at UBC. Tim and his family attend the Peace Mennonite Church. He comes from Ontario where he began his music studies as a boy soprano. His compositions have been heard on CBC and elsewhere, he has received a number of significant commissions to compose new works, and he also founded and conducts the Peace Choir in Vancouver (in support of the Mennonite Central Committee). This season he is active in leading choral music at the Vancouver School of Theology.

During one hymn, an offering will be taken in support of the Choir and the Menno Simons Centre (MSC), a residence for some 22 Christian university students attending UBC, Regent College, and the Emily Carr Institute. The MSC serves students from varying backgrounds who wish to live in a small, Christian community while working at their studies.
